Akshay Kumar is all set to play this real-life hero role in his upcoming film

Akshay Kumar is all set for his upcoming film. He is back with power-packed role. The actor will now be seen portraying (late) mining engineer Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill in his next biopic. Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill was an engineer who led one of India's biggest rescue missions while saving 65 miners from a coal mine in 1989. Its is India’s first Coal mine Rescue. To commemorate the day, November 16 was marked as ‘Rescue Day’.

The Union Minister of Coal and Mines-Govt of India Shri Pralhad Joshi commemorated Late Gill on Twitter on this day. He was overwhelmed with the opportunity of playing such an honorable role on the screen. The actor also gave him reply and wrote, “it’s a story like no other!” 

Filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani announcing the film wrote, “Remembering Late #SardarJaswantSinghGill on this day ,who rescued the lives of miners who were stuck in the coal mines of Raniganj under very difficult circumstances. It is indeed an honour and privilege to showcase his heroic act in our next film.”

 

Akshay Kumar has featured in various films based on national issues like Rustom (2016), Airlift (2016), Pad Man (2018) or Kesari (2019). Speaking about the film, It will be directed by Tinu Suresh Desai who had earlier worked with Akshay Kumar on the National Award-winning film Rustom.  On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Selfie, Soorarai Pottru' remake, Oh My God 2. He has various project in the pipeline.
