Aleksandr Bublik has shown his returning Stan Wawrinka out of the Monte Carlo tennis tournament by voting in three sets in the first round of the tournament. Kazakhstan's Bublik defeated Switzerland's Wawrinka 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, playing his first singles match in 13 months. Wawrinka, 37, last played in the ATP Tour tournament in March 2021 and still suffered a first-round loss at the Qatar Open. After which Wawrinka had two surgeries on his left leg and it took him months to recover from it. Croatia's Marin Cilic defeated France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-2, 6-2 in another match.
