Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court has granted conditional bail to 70-year-old accused Vishwanath Pandey in a case of raping a girl on the pretext of marriage. Not only this, the High Court has directed to release the accused on a personal bond. The accused was serving his sentence in Varanasi jail since December 20, 2021. An FIR was lodged against him under Section 376 of the IPC at Varanasi Kotwali. During the hearing in the court, the accused's lawyer Ashwani Mishra defended him. The lawyer said that the accused has been falsely implicated in the case as the allegations made by the victim are contradictory to the police and the court. The accused told the court that whenever he is called, he will be present. He also has no criminal history. The high court, while hearing the entire matter, said that keeping in view the right to life, the petitioner is entitled to bail. The court has granted his bail conditionally. This order has been given by Justice VK Singh.
