From Washington Post to New York Times, Modi's buzz in US media

Washington: The American media on Friday (September 16) praised PM Narendra Modi fiercely. This praise has been done for the advice given by PM Modi to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In fact, PM Modi told Russian President Putin on Friday that this is not the time to go to war in Ukraine. Actually, bilateral talks between Modi and Putin were held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, which has been given great coverage by the American media.

America's main newspaper 'The Washington Post' gave the title, 'Modi reprimands Putin for the war in Ukraine'. This newspaper wrote in its article that, Modi gave a surprising public reprimand to Putin, saying... 'The modern era is not the era of war and I have discussed this with you over the phone.' It said the condemnation had put the 69-year-old Russian leader under immense pressure from all sides.

Putin told Modi, 'I know your stand on the conflict in Ukraine, I am aware of your concerns, about which you keep talking. We are doing everything possible to stop it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the leadership of the opposition Ukraine has announced to abandon the negotiation process. He has said that he wants to achieve his target through military means i.e. 'battlefield'. Nevertheless, we will keep you informed about what is happening there.

The Washington Post and The New York Times also featured PM Modi's remarks on their main pages. 'The New York Times' titled that, 'India's leader tells Putin that this is not a time of war.' The newspaper wrote that 'The tone of the meeting was friendly and the two leaders mentioned their old shared history. Before Modi made the remarks, Putin said that he understands India's concerns about the war in Ukraine.'

The newspaper wrote that 'Modi made the comments a day after Chinese President Xi Jinping's first one-on-one meeting with Putin after the Ukraine attack. Jinping adopted a more calm tone than the Russian president and tried to avoid mentioning Ukraine in his public statements.'
