US MP says India is battling Islamic terrorism, we should help

Washington: US lawmaker Francis Rooney has described India as an important partner and a close business partner. He said that America should help India in fighting terrorism and other geopolitical and regional threats facing the country. After a meeting with Indian Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla to the US, Rooney said, 'India is facing many regional and geopolitical threats.

He said that 'Islamic insurgents are a continuing threat, who are spreading terror in many places throughout Jammu and Kashmir and India. We should support the Indian government in the fight against terrorism. He said, 'India is also facing an aggressive and outspoken China, which is exporting its deadly influence across the Indo-Pacific region. China's behavior is destabilizing India, drawing its neighbors on unfair lines, as it did with the port project in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. India is on alert due to hostile and unstable nuclear-armed with West-Pakistan. '

Rooney said that the US should continue to strengthen its trade relations with India, increase bilateral foreign direct investment and consider negotiations on a free trade agreement. Rooney said, 'We must work together to face threats abroad, strengthen our economic ties and advance the cause of freedom and democracy around the world.'
