After studying the latest data of gram panchayats, the police of Uttar Pradesh and Assam have also sent their reports to the Union Home Ministry. These describe the demographic change that has taken place in this area in 10 years. Due to the increasing Muslim population in the border areas of the country, the risk of infiltration in these areas is also expected to increase. According to the report, the population of Muslims in the border areas has registered a 32 per cent increase since 2011. While the figure of population change in the country has been up to 15 per cent during this period. Intelligence and security agencies have termed the increase in population in the border areas as "very worrisome".
