Srinagar: The national flag tricolour was not hoisted at a school in the Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Independence Day (August 15). After which action has been taken against 7 teachers of the school. These teachers have been suspended. Along with this, a committee has been formed to investigate the whole matter. After which the Education Department suspended all those teachers and a committee has also been formed to investigate the matter. All these teachers will remain suspended till the committee completes the investigation in this matter. The suspended teachers are Ayaz Ahmad, Sajid Ahmad Wani, Farooq Ahmad Boomal, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Mohammad Sikander of Middle School Batwadi, and Shahida Banu and Ghulam Hussain Bhat are from Primary School Doga Batwadi.
One such case was reported from Tamil Nadu, where the Christian principal of a government school in Dharmapuri district refused to hoist and 'salute' the national flag at independence day celebrations. Tamilselvi, the headmistress of the school, is due to retire this year and the event was held on August 15 only to felicitate her. Sources have informed that the assistant headmaster had hoisted the flag after the headmistress refused. The principal had said about this that he is from the Christian religion. He said that we only salute God and no one else.
