Amit Shah Releases Madhya Pradesh Government's Report Card and Addresses BJP Meeting Ahead of State Polls

Bhopal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the Madhya Pradesh government's performance "report card" in Bhopal on Sunday, followed by addressing the BJP's working committee meeting in Gwalior, ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled for the year-end. This is a notable event as Gwalior is the political turf of Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Amit Shah's visit to Bhopal on the morning of August 20 was marked for releasing the assessment of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government's performance at an official function. Subsequently, he proceeded to Gwalior to preside over and deliver a speech at the working committee meeting. Ashish Agrawal, the head of the state BJP media cell, conveyed that the meeting was anticipated to include BJP MLAs, MPs, district presidents, and general secretaries. Around 1,500 party officials participated in the gathering, which aimed to possibly finalize the party's approach for the impending elections. The significance of this meeting stems from its role as the last assembly of the state's working committee prior to Madhya Pradesh's forthcoming elections, slated for the year's end. In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress secured victory in 26 of the 34 seats within the Gwalior and Chambal region. During that period, Jyotiraditya Scindia was aligned with the Congress party.

However, after Scindia's transition to the BJP, accompanied by his loyal supporters, the Congress could only secure victory in 7 out of 19 seats during the Gwalior and Chambal bypolls held in November 2020. This shift in political dynamics underscores the evolving landscape of Madhya Pradesh's political scenario.
