Amit Shah to attend All India Prison Duty Meet in Ahmedabad tomorrow

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend three mega events in Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat, on Sunday, including the opening of Municipal Corporation schools and the 6th All India Prison Duty Meet (AIPDM).

As part of his day-long visit to Gujarat, Shah will officially open the smart schools run by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation in Nawa Vadaj area   at Around 9 am.

The Minister will next go to the 6th All India Prison Duty Meet, a biannual meet held from September 4-6 and organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, at about 11 a.m. at TransStadia in Ahmedabad's Kankaria.

Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, and Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of state for the home, will join Shah in launching the event. The three-day event is anticipated to draw administration and police department personnel from about 19 States and Union Territories.

Notably, Ahmedabad had last convened AIPDM in 2007 which was the second ever meeting. 

Later, at around 7 o'clock in the evening, at TransStadia in Kankaria, the Home Minister will take part in the Curtain Razor of the 36th National Games-2022 and the closing ceremony of the 11th Khel Mahakumbh.

The 36th National Games Gujarat 2022 will be held in Gujarat from September 27-October 10. The inaugural function of the National Games will be taken place at Narendra Modi stadium in Motera. Gandhinagar,  Bhavnagar Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot will host 36 different games as part of the mega event.

Notably, Kerala hosted the National Games' previous iteration in 2015. The games are being organised now, seven years after they were last held, for a number of factors, including the pandemic. The Asiatic Lion of Gir and the Statue of Unity by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel are shown on the National Games' symbol.
