Uttar Pradesh: Couple commits suicide due to house arrest

Lalitpur: In Manwara village under the Jakhaura police station area of the Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a couple hanged themselves on the gallows. The couple's body was found hanging from a tree in the forest, the news of suicide in the village was stirred up. A large crowd of local people gathered on the spot. It is being told that due to domestic discord, husband and wife committed suicide. The police has started investigating the case.

On giving information on the whole matter, Superintendent of Police Capt. Mirza Manjar Baig said on Tuesday that the couple committed suicide on Monday. The police received the information of suicide after which, at around three o'clock in the Jakhaura police station area, two bodies were found hanging on a trap by hanging in a forest on the bank of Betwa river. Manjar Baig said that the dead have been identified as Shankar Lodhi (31) and his wife Harsh Kumari (28), residents of Manwara village. They told that family dispute is telling the reason for suicide. The investigation is on.

Inspector-in-charge of Jakhaura police station, Awadh Narayan Pandey, quoting Tilak Lodhi, brother of Shankar Lodhi, informed that his sister-in-law, Piparadhanga of Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh was insisting on going to his village. There was a debate in the house between the couple till the first afternoon, and then at around two o'clock, both left on their way to Pipradhanga village. He said that through the villagers, around 3 pm, the bodies of both were reported to be hanging from the noose hanging in the forest.
