England: Recently, 1st test of the Ashes series 2023 was played between England and Australia at Edgbaston, wherein England lost the match by 2 wickets on Day 5. James Anderson has lamented the "kryptonite" lifeless Edgbaston ground in the Ashes opener and worries that if the pitches for the rest of the series are flat and slow, he won't be able to help England battle back against Australia. The 40-year-old right-arm seamer, who needs 14 more wickets to become the first fast bowler to record 700 Test dismissals, wasn't at his best during the opening Ashes match. In the entire Test match, he worked determinedly for 38 overs (both innings combined), but only managed to claim one wicket. There was not much swing, no reverse swing, no seam movement, no bounce and no pace,” he wrote.
