Andhra Pradesh: BJP leader and Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse described as a patriot

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh): The BJP leader has created controversy by calling Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot. BJP leader N Ramesh Naidu tweeted on his official Twitter handle on Sunday, causing a lot of uproar throughout the day. After the controversy grew, Ramesh Naidu said in his clarification, his social media team had tweeted in support of Godse. Then, the tweet was deleted. The BJP leader's Twitter handle wrote, "I bow to Nathuram Godse on the anniversary of his death. He was one of the true and greatpatriots born in Bharat. '

Congress leader Karti Chidambaram tweeted, "It is shameful and disgraceful." Karti Chidambaram tagged BJP president JP Nadda in his tweet. The BJP leader's tweet created a stupor. People asked if this was the BJP's official stand. Meanwhile, congress demanded that BJP leader Ramesh Naidu apologise.

Nathuram Godse and Narayan Apte were hanged in Ambala jail on November 15, 1949. Both were guilty of the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Every year the Hindu Mahasabha celebrates the anniversary of Godse's death as a sacrifice day. On Sunday, the Hindu Mahasabha celebrated the 71st anniversary of Godse and co-conspirator Narayan Apte.
