Andhra Pradesh: CM takes initiative to provide quality rice at doorstep of ration cardholders

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh  CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to roll out to every doorstep delivering monthly ration supplies under the public distribution system scheme from February 1.

CM Reddy will be inaugurating the door delivery of the ration supplies scheme. He will b flagging off 2,500 'mobile dispensing units' for three districts at Benz Circle in Vijayawada today.  The door delivery will supply ration and quality rice at the doorstep of the beneficiaries.  The state government has purchased 9,260 mobile vehicles worth Rs 539 crores for such great work for their state through which they will be distributing rice and other essential commodities to ration cardholders at their doorstep. An official said that "Starting February 1, quality rice and ration provisions will be delivered by 9,260 vehicles at the doorsteps. The government will be spending Rs 830 crore more on this scheme."

Those vehicles will be provided to the beneficiaries at a 60 percent subsidy rate. According to the government, the Civil Supplies department in the state has already incorporated changes in procuring rice to reduce husk and chipped rice.  After coming into power, the Reddy government is also trying to give ration cards to eligible people across the State in just 10 days from the date of applying in five categories. The five categories include a new ration card, division of a ration card, adding members to a rice card, removing members from a rice card, and surrendering the rice card.
