Andhra Pradesh postpones night curfew plans to January 18

AMARAVATI: A day after deciding to enforce a night curfew in response to the rising Covid cases, the Andhra Pradesh government postponed its implementation until January 18.

From January 18 through January 31, a night curfew will be in effect between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Because the Sankranti celebrations would take place over three days this week, the state administration has decided to change the order in order to prevent causing difficulty to the people, according to deputy chief minister Alla Nani.

In Andhra Pradesh, Sankranti is a major event, and people from all across the state and beyond flock to their hometowns to celebrate with their family.

Exceptions have been made for emergency services such as health, electricity, communication, water and sanitation services, print and electronic media, courts, and people at public transportation stations with valid travel tickets, according to the government order on Covid restrictions that come into effect with the curfew orders.

Face masks, on the other hand, are tightly enforced, with violators facing penalties of Rs 100. Shops and establishments who violate the mask regulation face fines ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000, depending on the severity of the violation. Along with enforcing the use of covid guidelines at stores and shopping malls, steps are being done to limit crowds to no more than 200 people in public spaces and 100 persons indoors.
