Lucknow: An agriculturist, who was disturbed by a thunderstorm in Kharela town of Mahoba district in UP, was hanged on Saturday. Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Collector (SDM), Charkari Tehsil, said that the farmer Umashankar Namdev (43), a farmer of 3 bigha of agricultural land in Kharela town, was reported to have committed suicide by his house on Saturday, for which the revenue inspector and the author of the area have been sent to the spot for action. He said that after receiving the action taken report of the revenue officers, the reasons for the commits suicide will be known. In the meantime, the police have sent the body for postmortem. Revenue Inspector Kamta Prasad Tripathi quoted the farmer's wife Vinita as saying that the farmer's farm crop was destroyed by a thunderstorm last week. In this regard, the wife says that she may have been shocked by the destruction of the crop. Tripathi said that the farmers are also giving information about the moneylenders Rs 3 lakh loan. He said revenue officers and police are investigating the cause of suicide. The dependents of the farmer will be administered government assistance as per rules.
