Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. For several months, Anil Deshmukh was imprisoned in a money laundering case. He was arrested by the central investigation agency Enforcement Directorate (ED). He has been granted bail after giving a bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, even after bail, Anil Deshmukh will not be able to come out of jail. The reason for this is that he has also been booked by the CBI and he has not got bail in that case. In such a situation, he will still remain in jail. But, after the bail in this case, his hopes of coming out of jail have increased. Anil Deshmukh was prosecuted by the investigating agency in the extortion case. The ED arrested Anil Deshmukh on November 2 last year on charges of money laundering. The 73-year-old NCP leader has been ordered by the Bench of Justice NJ Jamadar of the Bombay High Court to furnish a bond of Rs 1 lakh. The CBI first registered a case against Anil Deshmukh in April 2021. Based on that, the ED registered a fresh FIR. He was then arrested. Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh had accused Anil Deshmukh of extorting money from bar owners in the city through policemen. The name of sacked police officer Sachin Vaze had also cropped up in it.
