Ranchi: The state police have made a surprising revelation in the case of Ankita, who was burnt alive for not loving the boy Shahrukh in Dumka of Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Child Welfare Committee said the deceased was a minor when she was murdered. However, despite the police knowing this, they had shown the deceased as an adult in the report. According to media reports, the Jharkhand Police had written the age of the deceased as 19 years in its FIR. In fact, Ankita had mentioned her age as 17 years in her statement. After this, the police increased it from 17 years to 19 years from their own mind. However, on Thursday (September 1, 2022), the police admitted that the girl was 15 years old at the time. After this, sections of the POSCO act were added against the accused. It is being told that efforts were being made to prove the deceased as an adult by increasing her age. Through this, the police were in a way protecting the accused Shahrukh Hussain and Naeem Khan alias Chotu. In this case, DSP Noor Mustafa has also been accused of assisting the accused. However, the deceased girl had recorded her statement in the presence of the magistrate and stated her age as 17 years, even after that Ankita's age was increased in the statement and 19 years was written there. After the matter came to light, the police headquarters directed the DIG of Dumka to investigate.
