New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare sat on a daylong fast on Tuesday in support of farmers protesting against three agricultural laws brought by the central government. Farmers' organizations protesting have announced to keep 'Bharat Bandh' on Tuesday. Hazare said in a recorded message, "I urge the people of the country, the movement going on in Delhi should go on in the whole country." Anna Hazare further said that to create pressure on the government, there is a need to create such a situation and for this farmers will have to take to the streets but do not commit any violence. Hazare is sitting on a protest at Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. He said that this is the "right time" for farmers to come on the streets and resolve their issue. He said, "I have supported this issue before and will continue to do so". Hazare also stressed the need to give autonomy to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and implement the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Commission. He also threatened the government for not giving autonomy to the CACP and agitation over not implementing the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations. He said that the government only gives assurances, never fulfils the demands.
