Arjun Arigasi won the title of Delhi International Chess 2022

India's current national champion and grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi has won the title of the 19th Delhi International Chess Tournament. In the final round, Arjun defeated compatriot Karthik Venkataraman with white pieces to win the title by scoring 8.5 points. Although Arjun was not the only player to score 8.5 points, D Gukesh defeated Abhijeet Gupta, while Harsha Bharatkothi defeated SP Sethuraman to score 8.5 points, but on the basis of the tiebreak, Arjun is the winner, Gukesh the runner-up and Harsha remains at the third position.

All the three players have been awarded a men's car of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4  lakh and Rs 3 lakh respectively. With this win, Arjun has taken his live rating to 2675 which has also been given the best rating of his sports life. With this, Arjun is now set to be selected for India's main Olympiad team.

Arjun, while talking to Punjab Kesari after the win, expressed his happiness about being in the Chess Olympiad in India and said that he is very excited about his Olympiad appearance. Among the other players, Ortic Nigamtov of Uzbekistan, S.P. Sethuraman of India, Delgado Ramriz Neuris of Paraguay, Lalitbabu of India, Abhijit Gupta, Nilash Saha and Gholami Orimi of Iran have finished 10th from 4th respectively.
