Army Chief Meets President Murmu Amid Security Concerns in Rajouri-Poonch Sector

NEW DELHI: Head of the Army, General Manoj Pande, met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday. This meeting follows his recent visit to the Rajouri-Poonch sector for a security review.

During his visit on Monday, General Pande assessed the security situation in the area. Additionally, an inquiry has been initiated by the Army, involving a Brigadier, to investigate the deaths of three civilians who were in Army custody after the Dera ki Gali attack. This incident resulted in the death of four troops and ongoing losses for the force in the region over recent months, according to Army sources.

In his tour, General Pande also inspected the locations of recent security force attacks in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. He received a comprehensive briefing from Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi and other high-ranking officers regarding the situation on the ground. Discussions centered around the measures taken to address security vulnerabilities in the area.
