Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday removed Arun Yadav, the IT cell in charge of the party's Haryana unit, from his post. Yadav has allegedly made controversial tweets against Islam and Muslims. Haryana BJP unit president O P Dhankhar has removed Yadav from his post with immediate effect. However, no decision has been taken on Yadav's party membership yet. Some of Yadav's tweets posted in 2017 and May 2022 went viral on social media, after which he received severe criticism on social media. The critics have accused Yadav of insulting Prophet Mohammed and Islam and spreading hatred. Even the demand for Arun Yadav's arrest on social media arose and started trending sharply on #ArrestArunYadav on Thursday. However, according to media reports, the Haryana Police did not receive a formal complaint against Yadav till late in the night. Youth Congress president Srinivas BV tweeted, "Out of the bottomless sea of fringe elements, BJP 'relieved' another of its fringe elements Arun Yadav, but instead of this pretence, will these hateful Chintus ever be arrested?"
