It is being told that in this case, the Darjeeling district administration has issued an advisory to protect against this dangerous fly. According to the news received, acid fly infection first appeared in Sikkim and since then it has spread to its surrounding areas. With this around 100 students of North Bengal University (NBU), Siliguri is affected and the fear and panic among the students has increased so much that many have left the hostels and gone back to their homes.

Let us tell you that the Health Department officials said, 'This infection of poisonous acid fly first appeared in Sikkim and since then it is spreading in the surrounding areas. Mainly children and people with sensitive skin are getting infected by this pest.'' On the other hand, Darjeeling District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam said that ''we have issued an advisory to people to adopt measures like wearing full sleeve clothes, avoiding going out in the evening, using mosquito nets, using dim lights indoors. In case of infection, people should immediately contact for treatment.''

Let us tell you that the Superintendent of Darjeeling District Hospital said ''So far 3-4 cases of acid fly bites have been reported in Darjeeling and none of them need to be hospitalised. In this situation, nothing major will be in danger and people need to remain calm and not panic. In fact, we are not sure whether the 3-4 patients who came were battered by the acid fly.'' At the same time, the District Magistrate said ''Right now our goal is to control the infection and find the breeding sites of the insect. I request people not to panic.''
