Babasaheb Ambedkar's wife Ramabai Ambedkar was born on February 7, 1898. She has been one of the biggest inspirations for Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar of social justice. She came from a humble background and was the second child of Bhiku Dattre Valangkar and Rukmini. She is still remembered by the name of Ramai or Mata Ram. Ramabai Ambedkar is among the women who remained steadfast in rendering in support of the architect of our Constitution quietly while she was a symbol of humility, resilience and compassion.
Ramabai was born in a small village called Dabhol in Maharashtra and was married to Bhimrao Ambedkar at the age of nine. Ramai is a 1992 play directed by Ashok Gawli. The 1990 Marathi film Bhim Gargana, directed by Vijay Pawar, played the role of Ramabai Ambedkar was played by Pratham Devi. The role of Ramabai Ambedkar, a Marathi film directed by Shashikant Nalawade in 1993, was played by Chitra Koppikar, a Marathi film directed by Yugpurush Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, a 2000 English film, directed by Jabbar Patel, played the role of Ramabai Ambedkar by Sonali Kulkarni.
