New Delhi: Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, said on Sunday that the disinvestment objective set for FY23 is more achievable, and she intends to meet it.

She was speaking at a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry event in New Delhi (FICCI). "While selling goods of worth... requires a lot more consideration, the government or any individual does not make judgments quickly or hastily. And it's even worse in government. But, in answering this issue, I'd want to propose that we should be taking in the fact that we've cleared Air India, NINL (Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd) has found a buyer, and the LIC IPO is coming up soon.

So, things are moving in the right direction "she stated "The market may be good, and many people may argue that you should have sold it yesterday based on logic, but that is unlikely to be the case in government because, at the end of the day, I am accountable to the parliament, the CAG, and the Central Vigilance Commission, not just the political executives. The permanent executives are very aware of their surroundings. Let's not forget that certain cases have been resurrected by persons seeking justice for whatever reason, even after a dispute has been resolved for 10-15 years."
