New Delhi: The echo of a church demolished in the Chhatarpur area of the national capital Delhi has reached Goa. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre for demolishing the church ahead of next year's assembly elections there. Congress has taken a dig at the AAP. Talking to media in Panaji on Wednesday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said the church has been demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under the Central Government and the Delhi government has no role to play in it. According to the 2011 census, 25 percent of Goa's population is Christian. The South Delhi district administration had "encroached" the land and demolished the church built on it during an anti-encroachment drive in Chhatarpur on July 12. Church members have termed the action as 'illegal' and claimed that no notice was given to vacate the premises. According to media reports, Kejriwal, who is on a two-day visit to Goa, told the media, "I was told that the action was taken by the Delhi Development Authority. DDA comes under the central government. The Delhi government has no control over it. DDA had probably moved the high court in the case, which ordered and DDA took action.''
