Owaisi furious over nominating Ranjan Gogoi to Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind has nominated former CJI Ranjan Gogoi to the Rajya Sabha. However, many leaders, including AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, have not liked this decision of the President. Owaisi has termed the decision as compensation for Ranjan Gogoi. Owaisi wrote on his Twitter handle, "Is this the reward? How will people believe the independence of judges? Many questions ''.

Owaisi has also shared the Ministry of Home Affairs notification, in which the President nominated former CJI Gogoi to the Rajya Sabha. Congress leader and spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala protested against this by tweeting and retweeting with his Twitter handle. He wrote, "Photos tell everything." Ranjan Gogoi gave a historic verdict on the Ayodhya case. Gogoi retired from the top court on 17 November.

Gogoi's tenure as Chief Justice was around 13 and a half months. During this, he made many important decisions. These include the Ram Mandir case, the Chief Justice's Office Public Authority case, the Sabarimala case, the government advertisement banning the photo of leaders and the verdict in 7 languages including English-Hindi.
