Owaisi's attack, claims 'Government wants to take away right of free electricity...'

Hyderabad: The protest of farmers standing on the borders of Delhi is also against the proposed electricity bill along with three agricultural laws. The opposition is also opposing this bill. Now AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that the reality is contrary to what the government is claiming about this bill.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi says that there is a proposal to do away with cross-subsidies through electricity bill. Many state governments give free electricity to farmers, the proposed electricity bill wants to change it and make farmers pay more for electricity. I wrote against this bill in May. Owaisi said that at present poor families pay at subsidized rates and its expenses are charged to industrial/commercial users. Now, the BJP wants to pay farmers, poor people and other domestic users at par with big businessmen.

Farmers are opposing the electricity bill. Farmers unions say that if this bill becomes law then they will lose the facility of free electricity. According to him, this change will promote the privatization of electricity and will stop the free electricity facility given to farmers in Punjab.
