Ashes: The decision that made England lose

England: Recently England lost the 1st Match of the Ashes series by 2 wickets against Australia on Tuesday. Captain of England Test Team Ben Stokes Declared the 1st innings at the score of 393 even with two wickets in hand. England lost the close encounter on Day 5 by two wickets where Pat Cummins and Nathon Lyon carried the innings towards a victory.

The Ashes series 2023 has started with a bang. England's bowlers tried their best to win, but they failed to take the last two wickets. However, Captain Ben Stokes himself drowned the loot of the English team. A wrong decision by Stokes became the biggest reason for the defeat of England.

Ben Stokes did a great captaincy in the first Test match of the Ashes series. Stokes was also praised for the unique fielding designed to dismiss Usman Khawaja. However, the decision to declare the first innings with 2 wickets in hand cost Ben Stokes and the England team dearly.

Due to this decision of Stokes, the English team lost a golden opportunity to take a significant lead, because at the time the decision was taken to declare the innings, Joe Root was set at the crease after playing a century. If England had played their full innings, the result of the match could have been different.

The 2nd Test Match of the Ashes series is to be played between 28th June - 2nd July at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
