New Delhi: Recently, 1st test of the Ashes series 2023 was played between England and Australia at Edgbaston. England’s ex-captain and batter Joe Root scored a ton and 46 runs in second in that match. Joe Root had completed 30 tons in test matches including this record. This ton has given him the Crown of NO.1 batter in test.

Marnus Labuschagne who was No. 1 before root got dropped by 2 positions to No. 3. Marnus scored a duck in 1st innings and 13 runs in the 2nd innings which was the reason for his downfall.

Labuschagne wasn't the only Australian who dropped places. Travis Head slipped from third to fourth while Steven Smith slid from second to sixth after both produced ordinary scores in the first Test against England.

Usman Khawaja though, continued his rise up the ranks. He played some great knocks at Edgbaston - that included scores of 141 and 65 - now sees him at No. 7, displacing Daryl Mitchell and Dimuth Karunaratne. India's Rishabh Pant rounds off the top ten.

Joe Root directly jumped 5 places to gain the crown of No.1 Test Batter according to ICC rankings.

The second Test of Ashes 2023 is slated to be played from 28 June to 2 July at the iconic Lord’s Stadium.
