PM Modi to lead International Yoga Day programme at UN Headquarters

New Delhi: International Yoga Day was proposed by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 and he received huge support from the member nations. Hence International Yoga day also known as World Yoga day is celebrated in 21st June in India.

On his recent United States and Egypt tour from 20-25 June Prime Minister Modi would be leading Yoga Day celebrations at the headquarters of the United Nations on 21st June. The International Day of Yoga starting in 2014 has become one of the major events under the annual calendar of activities of the U.N.

The official ‘State Visit’ to the U.S. is scheduled during June 21-23 which will be followed by a similar visit to Cairo.

“Leaving for USA, where I will attend programmes in New York City and Washington DC. These programmes include Yoga Day celebrations at the @UN HQ, talks with @POTUS @JoeBiden ,address to the Joint Session of the US Congress and more.” is what he conveyed through his Twitter handle.

Ahead of International Yoga Day PM tweeted “Yoga holds profound benefits for both body and mind, fostering strength, flexibility, and tranquility. Let us make Yoga a part of our lives and further wellness as well as peace. Sharing a set of videos depicting the various Asanas.”
