NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi get ready to embark on a visit to the United States and Egypt from June 20 to 25.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a state visit to the US.

The trip will start in New York, where Modi will preside over the International Day of Yoga celebrations on 21 June at the UN building. The UN General Assembly had approved a resolution in December 2014 designating June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.

After that, Modi will go to Washington, D.C., where he will meet President Biden to continue their high-level conversation and receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House on June 22, according to a statement released by the external affairs ministry.

The Presidnet Joe Bidens will host a state dinner in honour of the Prime Minister the same evening.
On June 22, Modi will address a joint session of the US Congress at the invitation of congressional leaders, including Republican House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Democratic Senate Speaker Charles Schumer.

The Prime Minister will attend a luncheon hosted by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Vice President Kamala Harris the next day. Modi is expected to participate in a number of carefully crafted encounters with top CEOs, professionals, and other stakeholders in addition to his official engagements. He'll also get to know people from the Indian Diaspora.

After wrapping up the US journey, the Prime Minister will then head to Egypt for a state visit from June 24-25. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the president of Egypt, extended an invitation to Modi in January 2023 after the latter had participated in Republic Day celebrations as the principal guest.

Notably, this will be Narendra Modi's first visit to Egypt. The Prime Minister would likely speak with senior officials from the Egyptian administration, some well-known figures, as well as the Indian community in the African nation, in addition to his conversations with President Sisi.

According to a statement from the External Affairs Ministry, trade and economic ties that date back centuries as well as strong cultural and interpersonal links serve as the foundation of India and Egypt's relationship.

President Sisi's state visit in January resulted in an agreement to upgrade the cooperation to one of "strategic partnership."
