New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, dismissing Gandhi's allegations that the BJP intends to revoke reservations for backward sections if elected for a third term. Shah accused Gandhi of attempting to mislead the public, emphasizing that if the BJP had any such intention, it would have acted upon it during its previous ten years in power.

Addressing the media, Shah reiterated that the BJP-led NDA government had no plans to reconsider reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes. He assured that as long as the BJP remains in power, reservations will be protected.

"Rahul Gandhi is trying to mislead people by spreading false information against us. We have been in power for 10 years and won the absolute majority twice. If we had any intention of ending reservations, it would have been done by now. These claims are baseless. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already assured Dalits, backward classes, and our tribal brothers and sisters that reservations will remain intact as long as the BJP is in power," Shah stated.

Accusing the Congress of targeting quotas allocated for SCs, STs, and OBCs, Shah said, "After coming to power in Karnataka, the Congress announced a 4 per cent reservation for Muslims. In Telangana, they announced a 5 per cent reservation for Muslims. This shows the Congress's attitude towards backward sections."

"Even at Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, students from SCs, STs, and OBCs are being denied the benefits of reservation. It was PM Modi who worked to provide justice to our tribal brothers and sisters by appointing Draupadi Murmu as the President," Shah added.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that Prime Minister Modi wants to alter the country's Constitution and take away the reservations and other rights of backward communities, Adivasis, and Dalits.

"Narendra Modi wants to wreck and destroy the Constitution as we know it. His MPs said openly that if they win a fresh term at the Centre, they will change the Constitution. The Congress and its allies are fighting to save our Constitution," Rahul had stated at a rally in Karnataka's Bijapur.
