NEW DELHI: The decision by the Supreme Court to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case has been met with approval from opposition parties, including the Congress and Trinamool Congress. They also expressed hope for justice for former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

A bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta granted Kejriwal bail until June 1, instructing him to surrender on June 2.

Pawan Khera, speaking on behalf of Congress, welcomed the court's intervention and urged Prime Minister Modi, upon stepping down on June 4, to reflect on the politics he engaged in. Khera also expressed hope for justice for Hemant Soren.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj described the bail as nothing short of miraculous, suggesting it as a sign for necessary change in India. He attributed Kejriwal's release to divine blessings, emphasizing its significance.

Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, expressed her delight at Kejriwal's interim bail, foreseeing its relevance in the current electoral landscape.

Balbir Singh, a prominent AAP figure in Punjab, celebrated the decision, anticipating a positive outcome in the upcoming elections.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari hailed the court's decision as a victory for the people of India, emphasizing the importance of Kejriwal's participation in election campaigns.

Majeed Memon of TMC criticized the Enforcement Directorate's opposition to bail, questioning their motives and emphasizing the need to uphold personal liberty until guilt is proven.

Devender Yadav, interim chief of Delhi Congress, praised the court's decision, seeing it as a boost for democracy and a check on political interference.

However, BJP's Manjinder Singh Sirsa predicted Kejriwal's return to jail after the elections, suggesting the bail was granted solely for electoral purposes.
