ASIA CUP 2022: Preview: Jadeja's Injury to come as a Headache for India against PAK?

On Sunday, September 4, India and Pakistan's injury-ravaged teams are scheduled to square off in the Super 4s round of the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams have added to their already extensive injury lists ahead of the match, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai. Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out for the Indian team while Shahnawaz Dahani has been forced to withdraw owing to a side strain.

In contrast to India's loss of Ravindra Jadeja, Dahani's successor is more difficult to predict because Pakistan must select between Hasan Ali and Mohammad Hasnain. As the only left-handed player in the Indian batting order, Jadeja is a three-dimensional talent who is highly regarded throughout the cricketing globe. India is now affected by Jadeja's injury. Jadeja is a three-dimensional player who has been the only left-handed batsman in the Indian batting order—a rarity in cricket. India now needs a bowler, batsman, and a standout fielder to try to fill up the voids left by Jadeja's injury, but it is more difficult said than done.

While Pakistan must choose between Hasan Ali and Mohammad Hasnain as Dahani's replacement, the loss of Ravindra Jadeja for India would certainly require more effort.

In his analysis of the game, former cricketer Aakash Chopra predicted that the Indian starting XI against Pakistan would undergo significant changes. India may decide to drop Dinesh Karthik and replace him with Deepak Hooda if they decide to play Rishabh Pant in lieu of Jadeja. The deal may provide India with the necessary bowling cover and two excellent batsmen who are far superior to Ravi Jadeja.

Axar Patel, who has recently done quite well for himself, is the other clear-cut replacement.

India will be looking for an X-factor in their batting lineup to counter Pakistan's powerful pace attack, which nearly caused a top order collapse in their first Asia Cup 2022 match. In that case, choosing Rishabh Pant and adjusting the side in accordance with his performance would seem to be a wise move.
