Guwahati: The ongoing budget session of the Assam Assembly is likely to be adjourned for half an hour on Wednesday. The reason is the semi-final bout of boxer Lovlina Borgohain in the Tokyo Olympics. Lovlina will take on world champion Bunaj Surmenelli of Turkey in the welterweight women's boxing semi-finals in Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. This contest will take place today i.e. Wednesday at 11 am. The budget session of the Assam Assembly is likely to be adjourned from 11 am to the next 30 minutes. According to media reports, Deputy Speaker in Assam assembly Dr. Nuamal Momin has said that the adjournment motion has been submitted to the Assam assembly speaker. Indian women's boxer Lovleena Borgohen, who won a medal in Tokyo Olympic 2020, is on the verge of making history. The 23-year-old Lovlina from Assam, who is playing in the 69kg category, will be India's first medal in boxing in the last nine years. Lovlina's match will be played from 11 a.m. Lovlina's goal will now be to reach the final, where no Indian has reached yet. She has already tied Vijender Singh (2008) and MC Mary Kom (2012) by clinching the medal. "The match will be held in the afternoon and so we have been practicing only in the afternoon for the last two days," national coach Mohammad Ali Qamar said before the crucial match.
