He threw the spear 86.65 meters away in the first attempt itself. Neeraj has beaten the player who said it is difficult to beat him.

After which the medal expectations from Neeraj have increased. He has reached the final round of the javelin throw. He will now enter the final round on August 7. He defeated Germany's Johannes Vetter in the qualification round. Vetter had challenged Neeraj Chopra before the event and said he would not be able to beat him. In fact, Vetter said at a media conference organized by World Athletics that 'Neeraj has covered a good distance twice this year. His spear in Finland went away from 86 meters. If he is healthy and in the right position, especially with his technique he can throw spears far away.'

Vetter had further said, 'He had to face my challenge though. I'll try to get a distance of 90 meters more in Tokyo, so it'll be difficult for him to beat me.'
