New Delhi: Olympic medal-winning wrestler Sushil Kumar and his teammates beat former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankhar and others with sticks, hockey and baseball bats for 30 to 40 minutes after closing the door of Chhatrasal Stadium from within. This information was revealed in the charge sheet filed by Delhi Police in the murder case. Kumar and others were allegedly assaulted at the stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over a property dispute with Dhankhar and four of his friends. Later, Sagar died of injuries.
Police investigation revealed that Sagar and his friends were kidnapped from two different places in Delhi and brought to the stadium after which the gate was locked from inside and security guards were asked to leave. In its final 1,000-page report, the police said, 'In the stadium, all the victims were surrounded and beaten mercilessly by the accused. All the victims were beaten with sticks, sticks, hockey, baseball bats, etc., for about 30 to 40 minutes. The crime branch investigating the case also revealed that some of the accused had brought guns there and threatened the victims with dire consequences.
Meanwhile, one of the victims managed to leave the spot and called the police after which local police and PCR van personnel reached the stadium. Investigation revealed that as soon as the accused heard the police sirens, they took the deceased Sagar and the injured Sonu to the underground spot of the stadium. The accused left the two victims injured and fled the spot.
