Assam Congress slams CM Himanta Biswa Sarma over This Matter

Recently the Assam Congress has attacked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making a "father-son" remark to Rahul Gandhi at a BJP election rally in Uttarakhand. According to the Assam Congress, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's comment has damaged the state's reputation.

Sarma went after Rahul Gandhi at a gathering in Uttarakhand on Friday, demanding proof that he was a don of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. "Did we ever question you (Rahul Gandhi) whether you are actually Rajiv Gandhi's son?" According to Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma was in responding to Rahul Gandhi's earlier request for proof of India's surgical strikes in Pakistan.

Assam Congress chairman Bhupen Borah slammed CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's statements, saying, “Assamese are known as cultured and well-mannered people all over the world… Today, all that was reduced to dust with chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s deplorable remarks.”

"Sarma had (left Congress and joined BJP to escape the CBI's clutches, and now he is attacking Gandhi with uncivilised and low-mannered remarks in order to avoid being attacked by the RSS and BJP high command for his family's illegal land deals," he added.
