Assam government may even decide when people should sleep: Bhupen Borah

Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah, slamming the Assam government's decision on the Bihu grant, said there would come a day when the cabinet led by Himanta Biswa Sarma will gather to decide what time people in the state should sleep.

"Since the government is requesting Bihu committees to stage Bihu activities on a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh, it should now also call a cabinet meeting to discuss how to share the expenditures," Bhupen Borah told the media. He went on to say that the government should determine the fees for what performers should be paid, what food they should be served, and how the people who put up the event should be paid.

"If the government can conduct a cabinet meeting to decide whether they want continental or Indian food, they can call a cabinet meeting to decide on Bihu's costs," he added.

"I believe they will soon conduct a cabinet meeting to decide when people in Assam should go to bed," he added.
