Kamrup: Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta has said that the Guwahati Police is engaged in completing the legal formalities to bring the sedition accused Sharjeel Imam to Guwahati. Gupta said this in response to a question asked to bring Sharjeel Imam to Guwahati. Gupta has told that Sharjeel has just been kept in Tihar Jail of Delhi, we had given production warrants to Tihar Jail. He said that an order from the local court will be taken during the legal process for which efforts are on. He said that we will be able to bring Sharjeel Imam to Assam only after the legal process is over. Delhi Police may also take him into custody for interrogation. He said that we are in constant contact with Tihar Jail and Delhi Police. We have made all the arrangements that should have been made on our behalf. He will be brought to Assam at the earliest. The Commissioner of Police said that Sharjeel was to appear in court on 13 February. For some reason, this could not happen. For this, we will send new production warrants from the court to Tihar Jail. State level conference will be organized for 2021 census in Punjab Sharjeel will be brought to Assam for questioning only after getting permission from Tihar Jail and Delhi Police on getting new production warrants.
