Srinagar: Preparations are seen intensifying for the assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A meeting of the Delimitation Commission was held in Delhi on Wednesday. In this meeting, it has been decided to hold an all-party meeting in Jammu and Kashmir on July 6. Commission Chairperson Ranjana Desai, Member, and Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra attended the meeting. The third member of the commission, the State Election Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, attended the meeting in a virtual way. This was the first meeting of the Delimitation Commission after the all-party meeting of PM Modi regarding Jammu and Kashmir. The Delimitation Commission discussed convening an all-party meeting of the parties related to Jammu and Kashmir. In the meeting, the roadmap ahead was also decided in the Delimitation Commission. Along with this, the commission will also talk separately with the national and regional parties. After the all-party meeting of PM Modi on June 24, now the Delimitation Commission will visit Jammu and Kashmir on July 6. During this, they will also meet the district magistrates. The Delimitation Commission will be on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir from July 6 to July 9. During this, there will be discussions with political parties and representatives of the public and administrative officials. The all-party meeting with PM Modi on June 24 has stressed the expedition of the delimitation process so that assembly elections can be held in the state. Progress to date will also be discussed during the meeting. Sources say the Centre wants early elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, the process of delimitation has been expedited. It is speculated that elections can be held here in 6 to 9 months.
