At gunpoint, 3 men rob a trader in Delhi; one arrested

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old guy was robbed at gunpoint of Rs 4 lakh by three people in the Sadar Bazar area of north Delhi on Saturday, Police said.

The  accused has been taken into custody. The robbery by three people riding a motorcycle was reported to the police about 4.30 am on Friday. 

Salman Qureshi, a goat trader from Sadar Bazar, rode his two-wheeler to Tikona Park around 4.10 a.m. on Friday to deliver Shera, who transported goats from Jaipur to Gazipur, Rs 4 lakh as payment, a senior police official said. The three suspects approached him while riding a motorcycle. 

One of them took out a pistol and pointed it at Qureshi, who quickly threw the money and hid behind a truck as one of them brandished a gun at him. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, the accused seized the money and left. The three accused were found chasing the victim when the police investigated the area's CCTV footage during their inquiries. 

One of them was later apprehended when they were identified. According to the police, the two other accused have not yet been apprehended. Raja Kumar, 21, of Motia Khan Sadar Bazar, has been identified as the arrested suspect.  Police said, they have been accused of committing robbery or dacoity with the intent to inflict someone's death or great bodily harm under Section 397 of the Indian Penal Code.
