NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that Cabinet Minister Atishi will hoist the national flag on his behalf at the city's Independence Day function on August 15. This decision was conveyed to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, as confirmed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal is currently in Tihar Jail facing charges of corruption and money laundering related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Bail Plea Dismissed On Monday, the Delhi High Court dismissed Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Excise Policy case. The court found sufficient grounds for Kejriwal's arrest and disposed of his bail application, suggesting he seek further relief from the trial court. Atishi to Represent Kejriwal Kejriwal communicated to Lieutenant Governor Saxena that Atishi will take his place to hoist the national flag at the city's Independence Day event. This annual celebration, traditionally held at Chhatrasal Stadium, usually features an address from the Chief Minister. "Kejriwal has written to Lieutenant Governor Saxena from jail, stating that Atishi will hoist the tricolour in his place on August 15," the AAP said in a statement.
