Jaipur: In a village under Bassi police station area of Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan, a miscreant tried to rape a two-and-a-half-year-old innocent girl and when she failed, threw her dead body into a well. This incident has shaken not only Bassi but the whole of Rajasthan and there is an atmosphere of panic among the people. The accused of murder has been arrested by the police. The accused, confessing his crime in front of the police, told that he had taken the girl to a secluded place and after failing in the rape attempt, he strangled her to death. Additional Superintendent of Police Shahana Khanum has been given an inquiry into the matter.
Actually, this whole incident happened during a marriage ceremony. Ramesh Dhakad, a resident of Kishanpura (Bhilwara), who came to attend the wedding in Laxmipura village of Bassi police station area, was playing with the girl. Suddenly he took the girl to a deserted area and tried to rape her. Even before this, he had taken a child to this well, where when the child screamed, he brought him home. After that he picked up this girl. He was also afraid of his own handiwork. Fearing to be caught, he killed the girl and returned to his village Kishanpura (Bhilwara).
At the same time, when the girl went missing, the family members were looking for her, but she could not be found. A relative had seen Ramesh playing with the girl, but by then Ramesh had gone to his house. Relatives brought him from Bhilwara and interrogated him. Seeing his suspicious behaviour, the relatives handed over Ramesh to the police. At present the police is engaged in the investigation of the case.
