IPL auction: 'Could not believe his eyes' says Richardson after 14 million bid

Melbourne: Australia cricket team's pacer Joy Richardson was surprised after being sold for 14 crores in the IPL auction. The bowler could not believe during this time that Punjab Kings purchased him at this high cost. Richardson, the highest wicket-taker in the Big Bash League, was watching the IPL auction going on Thursday in Chennai for the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand by staying quarantined as his hotel in Christchurch.

After the auction, Richardson said that it was once very difficult for him to believe that he had been bid so high. Richardson, 24, said, "Emotions were completely dominating. In such a situation, you forget. You don’t believe You look again (for how much you’ve been bought), you see a third time, a fourth time. It took some time and I am still living in that moment."

Richardson further said, "I was anaesthetized. I was looking at him but it seemed like I am not seeing him. I was really excited after everything. My goal is to play Test cricket as much as possible but I am not playing in it right now, so what is happening in front is important for me. Right now it’s T20 cricket for me."
