RAMPUR: The Samajwadi Party (SP) leader accused in several cases in the case of land confiscation of farmers in the name of Johar University in Rampur and MP Azam Khan from Rampur Lok Sabha seat has approached the court. Azam Khan has filed a petition in the district court seeking anticipatory bail in land-acquired cases. The matter will be heard today. There are about 29 cases of land grabbing against Azam Khan. It may be mentioned that six persons, including Azam Khan and former CO Ale Hassan, have been booked in the SP government in cases such as demolishing Ghosakana's houses and stealing buffaloes, looting. In Thana Kotwali, 11 victims complained, with 4 cases registered today. They also have two cases of buffalo theft. One of the victims has also registered a case of unintentional murder against Azam Khan. His mother died of panic after being vandalised by Azam Khan. The 40 extremely poor families, including 90-year-old elderly woman Shahzadi Begum, a resident of 'Yatimkhana township', were demanding action against Azam Khan for a long time led by Faisal Khan Lala, state vice-president of the Congress Minority Department.
