Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised PM Modi, saying, "The PM made Kashmir an inseparable part of India. Home Minister Shah said this while referring to the decision to revoke Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and divide it into two Union Territories. Shah was speaking at the seventh convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University here. He said, PM Modi does not take decisions to please the people. He takes decisions for the good of the people.

They have the courage to pay the political price to make such decisions. Nobody in the past thought that an Indian leader would lead the world. Shah said, under the leadership of PM Modi, the country will never back down from taking strong measures against terrorism. He was accompanied by Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) Chief and Reliance Industries Chief Mukesh Ambani. He described Shah as an iron man.

On August 5, the Centre had announced the scrapping of Section 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The government had passed a resolution to this effect in both the Houses of Parliament. The government's decision was strongly opposed by other opposition parties including the Congress. On the other hand, some opposition parties like BSP had supported the government.
