New Delhi: The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, confirmed on Thursday that Jasprit Bumrah is in excellent physical condition and may travel with India on their upcoming August tour of Ireland. This week, the series roster is most likely to be revealed. This year's three T20Is will be held on August 18, 20 and 23. The pacer had successful back surgery back in March, and since a T20I match against Australia at home in September, he hasn't played in a competitive match. When his back injury became apparent, he had also missed a significant amount of the Asia Cup action. After starting his rehabilitation in November of last year and beginning to bowl in December, Bumrah was selected for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January of this year. But in January, as the intensity of his fitness exercises increased, he began to experience discomfort once more. He also missed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Bumrah was scheduled to return for this year's Asia Cup, which begins on August 30, according to the original timeline established by the medical staff of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Bumrah has gradually increased his bowling workload since beginning his rehab in April. Bumrah will be touring Ireland for the second time. He previously visited the nation in 2018 but broke his thumb in the first game. He was forced to miss the first half of the England tour that year due to this injury.
