Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao held a meeting on Wednesday. During this time he was accompanied by Mayor Bontu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, MA & UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, EVDM Director Vishwajit Kampati and concerned District Collector. In conversation, KT Rama Rao said, 'By December this year, 85,000 double bedroom houses in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) boundary will be handed over to the beneficiaries.' He also said, "No other metro city in the country is constructing so many housing units as is being done in Hyderabad". He said that out of 85,000 houses, 75,000 are being constructed under the Garima Awas program while the rest are being built under the JNNRM scheme. KTR also said that in keeping with the dignity housing program, the state government had allocated Rs 9,700 crore for the construction of one lakh double bedroom houses. Apart from this, out of the target of one lakh housing units, 4,000 are being constructed in 24 assembly constituencies of Hyderabad. During this time, the KTR also directed the officials to finalize the list of beneficiaries as soon as possible. In response to this, officials said that construction work is in the final stages of completion at most sites. Apart from this, the minister was asked to keep in mind the essential basic facilities including water supply, electricity and other facilities. He also issued instructions for the arrangement of handing over the houses to the beneficiaries with all the facilities.
