Bharat Jodo Yatra Second Day 2: Rahul Gandhi starts yatra from Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari: On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leadrs started the second day of the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra from Agasteeswaram town in the Tamil Nadu district of Kanniyakumari in an effort to counter the divisive policies of the BJP-led Centre and to educate the populace about the risks of economic inequality, social polarisation, and political centralization.

Along with Rahul Gandhi, senior leaders took part in the "Padyatra," including party MPs KC Venugopal, P Chidambaram, and Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh.

It is a Bharat Jodo Yatra to counter the BJP's divisive politics and to make the public aware of the dangers that India faces as a result of economic inequality, social polarisation, and political centralization, said Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretary in-charge Communications said.

The entire party is ensuring that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is a resounding and amazing success, Jairam Ramesh said. "This is also a Yatra that will build the party organisation, mobilise party workers, and make sure that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is a success," he added. He continued, "We are concentrated, just as Arjun was when he went for Draupadi's swayamvar, on the fish. Right now, our sole goal is to see that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is completed successfully." The leader of the Congress went on to say that they don't want to waste their time refuting the claims made by the opposition. In India, there will always be professional and armchair critics who will raise issues with everything you do, he said.

The tricolour is owned by every state, religion, and language, but the BJP and the RSS are attacking it right now because they are splitting India along religious and linguistic lines, according to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who made this statement on Wednesday. He claimed that every institution in the nation is under attack while pleading for support from the populace to keep the country united during the Bharat Jodo Yatra rally on Wednesday. Rahul Gandhi will embark on a 3,500-kilometer march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir that will take 150 days to complete and pass through up to 12 states.

On September 11, the Yatra will arrive in Kerala. Over the next 18 days, it will travel through the state, arriving in Karnataka on September 30. Before travelling further north, it will spend 21 days in Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi remarked earlier on Wednesday that the opposition was not intimidated by the Bhartiya Janata Party.  He made them during his nighttime address to the crowd on the first day.

"Using the CBI, ED, and IT, they (the BJP) believe they can intimidate the opposition. They have a difficulty since they don't comprehend Indians. Indians don't experience fear. No opposition politician will be intimidated by the BJP, "Rahul Gandhi, a Congressman, said.

In addition, he emphasised the significance of the Indian tricolour and denounced the BJP for allegedly treating it as their own property. "I am quite happy to start the BharatJodoYatra from this lovely location. Every person who lives in this country has a language and a religion that are represented by the national flag. They (the BJP and RSS) believe that they own this flag" he added.

In what is being hailed as the Congress' "masterstroke," Rahul Gandhi began the "Bharat Jodo Yatra" on Wednesday, a 3,570 km journey that would span roughly 150 days from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The goal of the campaign is to unseat the Narendra Modi administration in the impending 2024 elections.

As the statewide yatra gets underway, some important queries about Rahul Gandhi's housing and food service surface. The party has stated, however, that he will not stay in a hotel but will instead do the entire route in a straightforward manner.

The next 150 days will pass with Rahul Gandhi still inside the container. Some of the containers also have AC, sleeping mattresses, and restrooms. There will be numerous different climate and environmental conditions along the way. The arrangements were made with the new location's extreme heat and humidity in mind.
